Most of the children aged 11 and 12 these days already have
at least one social media account.
An organization called NSPCC asked the government to decrease
the amount of the underage social media users.
They also get some news from the social media and 68% of
them know how to differ the fake and the real ones according to the media
watchdog.
Based on the statistics done by OFCOM’S CHILDREN AND PARENTS
MEDIA USE AND ATTITUES, there are 46% of the kids aged 11, 51% of the kids aged
12, and 28% of the kids aged 10 now have a social media account.
Their parents concern was too low about them having a social
media like a Snapchat or an Instagram – with around 8 in 10 of those parents don’t
know that their children have it.
More than 4 of them said they wouldn’t let their child use
it until they were old enough to.
According to NSPCC, Social networks don’t care about the
underage social media users who sign up for their sites.
It’s been so long that the social medias like Facebook,
Instagram, and Snapchat fail to prevent the underage social media users from
signing up for their sites which needs to be taken care of by the government.
A facebook spokeswoman who has an instagram account said
that when they knew there were the underage users lying about their age, they banned
their accounts and use cookies so that they wouldn’t be able to sign up for
their site again.
