The Clean Water Crisis in Garut after The Flood Disaster

Garut Citizens are having trouble finding clean water for their daily needs. They’ve been in this situation since the flood disaster came on September 20th, 2016. Although the flood disaster has gone, they’re still unable to clean their stuffs and themselves with the clean water. One of the citizens having trouble finding the clean water for their daily needs named Yeyet(52) complained about his well that can no longer be used because of the mud of the flood in it. “The well of mine at home is dirty that the clean water needs can’t be fulfilled” Said Yeyet, Saturday(24/9/2016)

Therefore, the field coordinator of the Indonesian Red Cross Society named Abidin decided to build 8 public toilets in the locations affected and Cimacan subdistrict is one of them because it’s the worst location that has the clean water crisis. “Today The Red Cross Society is going to build the emergency public toilets to solve one of the problems of the citizens affected by the flood” said Abidin.
According to him, building the public toilets is aimed for decreasing the amount of the diarrhea and skin disease and they’re going to coorperate with PDAM team to supply them the clean water. Not only getting the clean water, the citizens will also get the water jerrican and the water purifier for their daily needs. “We will send 6 water wagons with 5000 litre water in it to fulfill the water supply of the locations affected” said Abidin.
